About Us
Thanks so much to our friends at Willkommen for this wonderful article! We so appreciate you!
Tom Milligan has been a working theatrical professional for the past 45+ years, working as an actor, director, scene designer, producer, and writer. Originally from Des Moines, companies credited to his resume include Charlie's Showplace Dinner Theatre, The Drake Opera, The Drama Workshop, The Old Creamery Theatre Company, The Iowa Theatre Artists Company, as well as many other arts groups around the state.
Deb Kennedy has been working professionally for the past 25 years, working throughout the Midwest onstage, offstage, touring, and occasionally onscreen.
Tom and Deb met in 2005, right here in Amana. Deb had been working for The Old Creamery Theatre Company as Company Manager and Tom was brought in from Des Moines to do his production of GRANT WOOD for the studio space, which at that time, was at the old train depot. They didn't have much interaction for that production, as Deb was working on one of the shows for the main stage (which is now known as the Amana
Performing Arts Center.)
However, later in the year, the two were cast opposite each other in a comedy.
They realized they worked very well together onstage.
As a company member for The Old Creamery, Deb also did other jobs such as props, costumes, choreography, and stage manage. The following year, Tom was brought in as a set designer, and it wasn't long before they discovered that they also worked very well together offstage.
After working together for a number of years as a great creative team, they finally established their production company of Team of Kennedy Milligan - TKM Theatrical Productions in 2014 and were established as a non-profit 501c3 organization in 2022.
"We always saw the specialness of this place, with both the Amana Colonies, as well as this charming venue nestled amidst corn fields. There is a different feel here, and we hope that when people visit, they feel welcomed as if coming home."
Our mission for TKM is simple. We want to bring people together - friends, neighbors, and families. Our goal is to provide affordable entertainment to the Amana Colonies and the surrounding rural communities of Iowa. We strive to provide diverse entertainment, and life enriching projects, with offerings ranging from dinner theatre productions, comedies, live music, or children's plays and workshops. Basically, our goal is to bring fun and LAUGHTER to our community!
TKM THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and charitable organization.
